Every Saturday, the Karunya lottery, which is part of the Kerala Lottery Scheme, is drawn, offering three main prizes. One lucky winner is granted a whopping sum of Rs. 80,00,000 as the top prize. Additionally, there is a second prize of Rs. 5,00,000 and a third prize of Rs. 1,00,000, which is shared among twelve winners. It is important to note that the first three prizes are only valid if the 8 alphanumerical digits on the ticket match the serial number exactly. Each ticket in the KR lottery ticket number system bears a unique six-digit number with two alphabets such as XX 000000. The fourth to eighth prizes are awarded to those whose last four digits match the respective numbers drawn and are Rs. 5000, Rs. 2000, Rs. 1000, Rs.500 and Rs. 100, respectively. Kerala Karunya Prize Claim Procedure

To claim the Kerala Karunya Prize, the winners have a 30-day window to submit their claims after the draw. The top two winning tickets, along with all necessary documentation, must be presented in-person to the Director of State Lotteries, or via an insured registered post or Nationalised, Scheduled Banks, State, or District Co-operative Banks.

If the prize amount is under Rs.1,00,000, the winners can claim their rewards from the Lottery sub-offices or District Lottery Offices. However, those who live outside of Kerala and whose prize claims exceed Rs.1,00,000 must present their claims directly to the Director of State Lotteries. The winners must sign their name on the back of the ticket in the designated area. The prize money will only be released after verifying the authenticity of the ticket with counterfoils or any other means determined by the Director. Claims made for mutilated or tampered tickets will not be accepted. It is essential to note that each ticket is only eligible to win the highest prize awarded on it.

According to the Finance Act (Central), Income Tax and Surcharge, if any, will be deducted at source from the prize money.
