Governor of Tamil Nadu Dismisses Minister V. Senthil Balaji | RajBhavan

Official Statement from RajBhavan, Tamil Nadu Chennai
Press Release No.40 Date: June 29th, 2023

It has come to our attention that Minister Thiru V.Senthil Balaji is currently entangled in a series of grave criminal proceedings related to corruption, comprising activities such as accepting illicit funds in exchange for employment opportunities and engaging in money laundering. Furthermore, it has been observed that he has been misusing his ministerial position to manipulate ongoing investigations while impeding the course of justice. Presently, he is in judicial custody due to an ongoing criminal inquiry led by the Enforcement Directorate. Additionally, multiple criminal cases, involving violations under the Prevention of Corruption Act and Indian Penal Code, are under investigation by the State Police.

The presence of Thiru V.Senthil Balaji in the Council of Ministers raises valid concerns that it could impede the fair investigation and potentially disrupt the due process of law, thereby posing a threat to the functioning of the Constitutional machinery within the State. Consequently, taking these circumstances into careful consideration, the Honorable Governor has made the decision to dismiss Thiru V.Senthil Balaji from his position as a Minister with immediate effect.
